Taumarunui Primary School is proudly located on the main street of Taumarunui, at the southern end of the town centre. We are a full primary school for children in Years 0–8, with a roll of approximately 156 students.
We are a welcoming, inclusive school where children are known, supported, and encouraged to be the best they can be. Our eight classrooms are supported by specialist teachers in Te Reo Māori, Music, Art, and Technology, giving students opportunities to explore their interests and strengths.
We value learning beyond the classroom. Our youngest learners in Years 0–2 take part in our Ki Waho programme, while students in Years 3–5 attend Nature School, where they enjoy hands-on, outdoor learning experiences. Our senior students in Years 6–8 are also part of our Outdoor Academy Programme, which builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership through outdoor challenges.
We also offer a weekly LEAP programme for four-year-old children every Wednesday afternoon, supporting a smooth and positive transition to school.
Our school values sit at the heart of everything we do. They guide how we learn, how we treat one another, and how we work together as a school community, creating a safe, caring, and positive environment for all tamariki and their whānau.
